Event Rules: The 2020 Rules of Racing Document will be released later next week (late July). We are in the process of finalising this document in line with our move to an individual-based operations for 2020 only, and the subsequent results generation system changes. The 2020 Rules will be simplified, with the major change for participants being the move to a ‘Best of Two Timed Runs” process in Alpine GS / Ski Cross / Snowboard GS / Snowboard Cross, rather than the previous “Combined Times” process.

Event Risk Management: During the July break, we have updated our Policy Document on Risk Management, and our Event Risk Registers. These DRAFT Event Risk Registers (dated 17th July 2020) will be further updated by early August to accommodate additional Sport and Resort requirements. In addition, two specific COVID-19 Risk Management Documents are in development, and both will be published in early August. This includes the COVID-19 Event Risk Register Addendum, and the 2020 SNOW AUSTRALIA Interschools Event COVID Guidelines, which will include the Event Safety Plan on Key Principles, Responsibilities, and Operational Considerations, Protocols and Implementation. The development of these two documents was interrupted late last week following receipt of further requirements from the NSW Government that will require additional planning that ensures that all reasonable steps to minimize the number of spectators attending our Events are evidenced, and ensure that we introduce a range of other protocols and reminders for those participating and spectating during the Events. Our Event Risk Management page also includes details on the newly opened COVID-19 Testing Clinics at both Perisher and Thredbo.

Expression of Interest Applications now open

Expression of Interest applications for a second-round invite into the 2020 SNOW AUSTRALIA Interschools Event are now open and will close July 31.

Applications are open to participants who are not on the first-round invite list and who are expressing an interest to compete in the event.

Please note that entries are not guaranteed. There are capped entry numbers per discipline which must be adhered to.  After entries have closed for first round invites on August 6, an analysis of the entries will be undertaken to determine if there is additional space in specific disciplines and divisions.

If extra entries are permitted, participants will be given an invite with the following priority:

  1. Top 25 individual result from the 2019 Regional Championships, subject to competitive times/scores
  2. Participants received an invite into one event only and request a second event, eg. Alpine and Ski Cross
  3. Previous participation in Interschools with a competitive result.

Applications will be reviewed by the Interschool Snowsports Event Tribunal and successful applications will be included in the second round of invites which will be published by August 10.

Second round invitations are not open to new 2020 Interschool participants, as well as entries into moguls and slopestyle.

Expression of interest applications can be made by either the school coordinator on the participants behalf, or by the individual with approval from the school coordinator. Please only submit one application per participant. Applications will only be accepted through the official online form.
